Tips for taking care of young kids when they are playing around

Children are the center of attraction in a family. Taking care of them is a very tedious job for mothers. When the child is actively at play every second the eyes of the mother should be very watchful. Carelessness for even a second might prove very expensive later. Placing things in their respective places can avoid many a dangerous situations. So the mum has to make it a habit to place things smartly without any laziness.

1. Never let the child lie down or play on tables, benches, sofa, kitchen slab etc. and don’t leave them alone and go to some other work.

2. Never leave the iron box to get heated up on the floor. Place the iron box on a higher place. It is best to iron clothes on a table when the kids are playing around.

3. The child goes in search of mother when she is busily working in the kitchen. Many a times water, heated up oil, knives, hot stove etc. might prove dangerous to the life of the child. So, always prevent the child not only from going out of the house alone but also from entering the kitchen.

4. The clothes covering the dining table if beyond the size of the table, make it smaller or buy a cloth that fits exactly to cover the top and never let the hanging chords of electrical appliances hang all the time. As they are always dangerous.

5. Hot water, oil, food, soup, tea etc. or any kind of drinks should not be left carelessly here and there. This gives way to many kinds of dangers to the child at home.

6. Never place the shaving set or cream, cosmetics, kerosene shoe polish, insecticides, detergent soaps, liquids within the reach of the child. Nails, repairing tools, and any other sharp things might prove harmful. Ear buds, tongue cleaners etc. should not be used in front of the child. As it may try to imitate the parents in their absence also.

7. Care should be taken while watching the programmes on TV like circus, fights etc. with smart children curious to know about things, because they may try to experiment with themselves or with fellow kids which might bring danger to their life.

8. Table fan and burning gas stoves shouldn’t be at the reach of the kids. Always make sure that you turn off the cylinder knob after the cooking work is over.

9. There is every chance of children opening the cupboard and refrigerator doors. They may also go and sit inside it, unknowingly. So make sure always that they are locked well after use.

Useful tips for daily life

1. Have the children created ink marks on the wall? Don't worry, using a toothbrush and toothpaste as we do while brushing our teeth, can remove these dirty marks.


2. Has the knife got rusted(corroded)? Apply vinegar. Leave it for 15 minutes. Later, clean and wash with water thoroughly. The knife will be as it was before. To cut vegetables, good quality stainless steel knives are available in the market. They never get rusted.

3. Has the inner side of the cooker turned black? Then fill 3/4 portion of cooker with water. Squeeze a lemon into it and boil the water. The inner portion will shine and look like a new one. Even when the vegetables are boiled in the cooker, the lemon juice can be poured into the water to get this effect gradually.

4. To avoid a chappal bite, use a bath soap and rub it to the inner side of chappals, before 4 hours of wearing them. If water is used while applying the soap it gives better results. This can be repeated 3 times to get rid of a chappal bite.

5. Add salt while boiling the potatoes. This does not distort the shape of the boiled potatoes.

6. If the vegetable, radish placed in a refrigerator gives out bad odour and spreads to other things placed nearby it, then remove the leafy portion in it. And once again place it into the fridge. Now, there won't be any kind of a bad odour like before.

7. For the pickles placed in a jar to last longer, put a fistful of mustard seeds in a piece of muslin cloth. Tie it and place it within the jar. Now, close the lid or cork tightly so that air doen't enter. Pickles will last for a very long time.

8. If there isn't any curd for souring the milk, then put a green chilli into the hot boiled milk. Place it aside and leave it with the vessel lid closed for 5 hours. Curds will be ready for use after 5 hours.

9. To the water in the vessel used for adding sliced raw bananas or pieces of brinjal, pour a teaspoon full of curds or butter milk. This prevents the pieces from turning into blackish color. And if a pinch of slacked lime is added to the same water we can get rid of worms in the vegetable pieces.

10. While the Paneer masala is boiling add thinly sliced or scraped beetroot. This not only gives good color to the Paneer masala dish but also gives us the necessary nutrients.

11. If you don't have to add onion or garlic, the masala paste to be prepared becomes thin. So, to make it thicker, add pieces of bread and tomato to the masala preparation. This makes the masala thicker.

To prevent Cough n Cold


1. If 5-6 drops of honey is added to the Neem leaves juice and gargled relief is got from throat pain or sore throat.

2. Some people reduce the quantity of drinking water when there is cold. Instead of taking in only water, orange juice, Tomato, Carrot, Salads or intake of fresh vegetables like Cucumber is preferable.

3. A whole onion is steam boiled and the soft inner pulp is mixed with honey. This can be used as a remedy for throat irritation.


4. People suffering from cold every now and then, can take a decoxion made out of Carom seeds.

5. If suffering from cold, add lemon juice to the cup of hot Tea when you drink. The problems due to cold are reduced and freshness is gained back.

6. Instead of Chilies the black pepper seeds are good for cooking. This reduces cold, cough, fever and keeps us away from other cold related problems.

7. To get rid of cough problems, a pinch of Turmeric powder, ¼ tsp black pepper powder and crystal sugar is added to milk before drinking. This can be had before going to bed.



8. During rainy season, when the body becomes cold and problems due to cold start arising, then to keep body in warm condition, raw or boiled Garlic can be taken in. The habit of having cloves of garlic keeps the body health in good condition.

9. Add 4-6 basil leaves and boil while preparing Tea. Also add 1 tsp of Honey and 1 tsp of Butter to the prepared Tea. Cough is reduced by drinking this Tea when it’s hot( Note: No milk to be added).



10. A clove of garlic is eaten raw to get rid of severe cold. After eating garlic bad breathe can be stopped by drinking Tomato juice. The bad breathe is due to oil content in garlic. The acid content in Tomato helps reduce bad breathe.

11. If nostrils get blocked because of cold, ghee is inhaled like snuff. Then the tight nose gets released.

12. The juice content in Onion is taken out and absorbed into a cotton piece. Then for 15 minutes, it is to be held near the nostrils. This is repeated 3-4 times a day. In this way, severe cold can be brought under control.
